Fund artisans to establish a Craft Village Tax benefit Help our bamboo artisans to become social entrepreneurs !

A NEW BEGINNING India has a rich bamboo culture. For centuries, different communities of the region have put it bamboos to various uses, creating crafts, cultures and civilizations. Bamboo is often called a “poor man’s timber”, signifying its importance for the marginalized communities, especially the Dalits and Adivasis. It remains the mainstay of rural life and culture of the country. The youths of the Kollam district of Kerala have come forward to take this tradition further and propagate bamboo craft for sustainable livelihood and environment. They have formed a Self Help Group and it has been producing various value-added bamboo products and participating in numerous exhibitions and trade fairs. But, at present, they are lacking a permanent place to exhibit their product and organise various activities around bamboo culture.
