The Happy Hands School for the Deaf, a residential school is run by the Rural Lifeline Trust in the village of Sindurpur in western Odisha and currently has 30 children. Having admitted new children in July, the school has now run out of space. The school is running from a rented premise for the last three years. If we cannot build a new home for our school, we won’t be able to admit any more deaf children next year. This is the only deaf school in the area, and most of our children come from surrounding BPL families, have never been to school before. In the words of Founder & Director Sibaji Panda: “It is now time to shift focus to rural areas which are most neglected. Having worked in cities I have realised that these rural Deaf children to have the right to Quality Education, and a school with facilities equal to the urban schools
